Taste Of Thai Restaurant

Where attractive presentation equals appetizing cuisine!

Monday - Friday : Lunch Buffet

The Scene
Taste of Thai's owner and the waitstaff are from Thailand, as is instantly apparent from the extremely friendly service and Thai adornments throughout the restaurant. Diner booths have been classed up with Asian accents.

The Food
A step up from your average Thai restaurant, Taste of Thai offers menu staples (spring rolls, satay, pad Thai) as well as more exotic choices. Gracious presentation adds to the adventurous feel of dishes. The tom yum soup--a sweet-and-sour extravaganza, is packed with lemon grass, cilantro, mushrooms, tomato and chili. The notable pad Thai wins with its not-too-sweet peanut sauce. Larb tastes much better than it sounds: stir-fried ground chicken and vegetables, covered with a lime dressing serving up a sweet-and-sour kick. Most dishes come with a choice of shrimp, pork, chicken, beef or tofu for vegetarians.

Insider Tips
Look Good
Want to impress your Thai waiter and clear your sinuses? Ask for Thai chili on the side to add an extra kick to meals.

What to Drink
A bottle of warmed sake can serve up to three or four people as a lovely after-dinner drink.

AOL CityGuide "From the Editors"

When the owner of the Taste of Thai went to Thailand for the purpose of recruiting everyone from the chef to the wait staff for his restaurant, that pretty much sealed the deal on authenticity. Taking over what used to be the old Cooker spot in North Raleigh, Taste of Thai offers a large menu of traditional fare. Of course, look for vegetarian spring rolls with peanut sauce, coconut soup and pad Thai. But the more adventurous diner may want to try something more exotic like massamun curry, spicy mussels or whole ginger fish. Key Thai ingredients in all dishes such as fish sauce, lemon grass, lime leaves, chili peppers and curry ensure a truly authentic experience. Tie the meal together with a bottle of sake, which can be shared by up to four people.
